General Information

The Allen County Creating Healthy Communities Coalition is dedicated to improving the vitality and well-being of Allen County residents by working together to make the healthy choice the easy choice where we live, work and play.

 

The programs of Creating Healthy Communities have a focus on four different settings.

  Worksite Wellness
  Schools
  Health Care
  Community

How are we doing with healthy lifestyles in Allen County, Ohio?

According to the 2009 Allen County Community needs assessment:
 
  22% of adult residents surveyed smoke/ 21% of 14-16 year-olds smoke
  41% of residents are obese (29% of Ohio residents are obese)
  30% report a sedentary lifestyle
  34% of residents report a high cholesterol
  41% report an elevated blood pressure
  0.8% adults engage in all 4 health behaviors – smoke free, adequate activity, adequate fruits/vegetables,
