Program Background
This program involves permitting and inspecting for household
sewage systems of 1, 2 and 3 family dwellings. Inspections include
location, type and installation of new, replacement and altered
systems.
Additional inspections include new surveys for possible
building sites, sewage nuisance complaints, and annual aeration
sewage system monitoring.
Existing sewage systems are inspected for
real estate transactions.
Private sewage system contractors are
registered to do work in Allen County.

Regulations
Statewide interim sewage rules are
effective July 2, 2007 to July 1, 2009. More information is
available through the
Ohio Department of Health.

If
you are aware of a sewage nuisance, please contact the Environmental
Division of the Allen County Health Department at 419-228-4457. As
a general rule, we do not follow-up on anonymous complaints.
